Inspirational architecture round every corner

Le Marche is one of the best places to visit in Italy for beautiful unspoilt landscapes and its many ancient cities and medieval hilltop villages with few tourists.

Ascoli Piceno

Our favourite city (older than Rome), where you can stroll throught the different piazzas and narrow streets, discovering individual shops and high quality restaurants and cafes.  There is also a monthly Sunday antiques market which takes over the whole town.  The main cathedral is quite beautiful with painted ceilings, frescos and mosaics as well as an ancient crypt with tunnels under the church.

Fermo

Medieval town with imposing cathedral, historic library and Roman cisterns.  Famous for its historical re-enactments and 'paleo' horse race around the city walls.  The summer antique market on Thursday evenings takes place in the atmospheric main square.

Macerata

This hill-top town is well-worth a visit.  The Palazzo Buonaccorsi houses musuems: Museo di Arte Moderna , Museo di Arte Antica and Museo della Carrozza.  If you are here in July/August, you must go to the world-famous opera festival in L’Arena Sferisterio.

Servigliano

This charming town with its arched entrances and medieval piazza is one of the few not set on a hilltop!.  The market is on Mondays for a taste of Italian life. This is also a great foodies town with butcher, fruit and veg, fresh pasta shop , cafés and several restaurants.

Hill-top villages

We are surrounded by so many hill-top villages, each with their own character but always with a cafe for a coffee or an icecream!  We love Montelparo,  Montalto,  Montedinove and Santa Vittoria - you will see some of the best views ever!

You will agree that Le Marche is one of Italy's best kept secrets!!
